WE’re Back

We’ve been back in-person at the Rochester Engineering Center at Edison since the start of the 2021-22 School Year. Things are a little different this year.

First we would like to thank our newest sponsor Xerox for their generous support for 2021 and 2022.

Covid is still with us. All participants in RCSD buildings are required to wear a mask. In addition all Mentors must Register to Volunteer with the Rochester City School District. And we still use Zoom if the School temporarily goes back to remote learning.

We are over half way through our 2022 Build Season. We’re way behind other years as we were remote for Kickoff and struggling to attract and retain students. And we are working with less mentors and students than usual. But we are making progress and we have about a half dozen dedicated students. We’ll be at RIT’s Finger Lakes Regional on March 10th, 11th, and 12th. (Assuming the event isn’t made shorter).

At this time RIT Safety Rules requires all persons over 5 years old attending an event at the Gordon Field House be fully vaccinated.

This is my 13th season in FIRST Robotics and we’re still working hard to build an RCSD FRC Team. It will take at least another four years. But its really really really … worth it.

Hope you can stop in or watch us at RIT.

2020 News (October 21st)

We are starting up for the 2020/2021 Season.   We will meet virtually per RCSD Covid 19 Guidelines.   To join us check our Calendar.

FIRST will have Virtual competitions for FRC Teams this Season.   We will be inventing a new FRC Game.  Hope to see you online.

We didn’t get to compete at the 2020 Finger Lakes Regional.   We arrived, unpacked, found out that the event was being changed from 3 days to 2 with competitions starting after lunch and no practice.   Then sent home by 10 AM as all events in Monroe County with greater than 100 people were cancelled.  We hope that competitions start up again in 2021 so we get to show our Robot.

2014 Rochester Fingerlakes Regional

Congratulations to the team for competing at the 2014 Rochester Finglerlakes Regional held at RIT.  While we did not place well, we did receive many complements on our robot.  It did not help that we were competing against teams that had participated in earlier events.  They had an extra day to work out their bugs and two days of competition.  We’ll have to have a better strategy for next year.
